Towed Water Sports Included in The World Games 2025 

Towed water sports (technically defined as Waterski) and 30+ other sports will be included in The World Games 2025, to be held from 7th to 17th August 2025 in Chengdu, People’s Republic of China.

On Wednesday 3rd May during its Annual General Meeting in Madrid, the Executive Committee (ExCo) of the International World Games Association (IWGA) unveiled the programme for the 12th edition of the Games.

Towed Water Sports, Fin Swimming, Gymnastics, Karate, Powerlifting, Roller Sports and Tug of War form a small circle of sports that have been featured at every edition of The World Games since the inaugural event in 1981 in Santa Clara, USA.

In addition, the other sports taking part in Chengdu will be Air Sports, Archery, Billiards Sports, Boules, Canoe, DanceSport, Fistball, Floorball, Flying Disc, Beach Handball, Ju-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Korfball, Lacrosse, Life Saving, Muaythai, Orienteering, Racquetball, Sambo, Softball, Sport Climbing, Squash, and Wushu.

The decision on which towed water sports disciplines and the medal events, to feature in just over two years in Chengdu, will be determined and announced later this year.

The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association, organised with the support of the International Olympic Committee. The World Games 2022 was held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 7-17 July 2022. 3,600 athletes from 34 sports and 100 countries took part in the Games. The 12th edition of The World Games will be held in Chengdu, China in 2025.
