Medal Events of The World Games 2025 Announced

With 600 days to go to The World Games 2025, which will be held from 7th to 17th August 2025 in Chengdu, People’s Republic of China, the International Worlds Games Association (IWGA) has today announced the 262 medal events.  

Towed watersports has been allocated a quota of 88 athletes (44 men and 44 women).

It has been decided that there will be six medal events having consulted the National Federation, the Chinese Waterski, Underwater and Powerboat Association (CSUPF), on its preferred towed water sports and assessed Sancha Lake, the designated venue, as to which towed water sport disciplines it would be able to best stage high-level competition.  Cable Wakeboard (15 men & 15 women) will make a return to the World Games after 20 years having been included on one occasion in The World Games 2005 in Duisburg, Germany.   Wakeboard Boat (15 men & 15 women) makes a return having been featured in every edition since Akita in 2001.  Wakesurf makes its debut in The World Games for the first time with the Skim event (14 men & 14 women).

The qualification process for each medal sport will be announced shortly.

The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association, organised with the support of the International Olympic Committee. The World Games 2022 was held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 7-17 July 2022. 3,600 athletes from 34 sports and 100 countries took part in the Games. The 12th edition of The World Games will be held in Chengdu, China, 7-17 August 2025.
